Maxedon Landscaping Articles
Spring Arrival by Tony Huffman on March 13, 2016
Spring is almost here and it is time to leave those winter blues on the couch and get back outside. It is our chance to shut off the television and put down the smart phone and enjoy the simplistic beauty of flowers and sunshine.
If you are like the crew up at Maxedon Landscaping, everyone is ready to unhook the snow plows and get back to warm weather work. Backyard bliss is at its best with one or all of the many residential landscaping features we offer. After over 40 years in business, our experienced landscape designers and installers can have your yard ready in a jiffy for all the family and friend gatherings you can handle.
Some of the many services we provide include design landscaping, stone patios, retaining walls, irrigation systems, Rainbow Swing Sets, sodding, hydroseeding, privacy fences, decks, fertilization programs, trimming, spraying, shrub removal, outdoor basketball hoops and much more.
In addition to many of the options that liven up your backyard, some of our most noticeable work can be done to the front of your home. We can provide a computer rendering with a before and after picture of your home. Our design team can create a welcoming layout of foundation beds. For instance, yellow - the color that says welcome - can come from chrysanthemums, which also provide coveted fall color. We fill out flower beds with equally coveted year-round color with greenery from our local nurseries and we also offer a year warranty on all the plants and trees we plant. As our sign has long suggested, we definitely “sell color” with flower beds to beautify and cover the foundation of a home.
After the flower bed has been planted, we offer a wide array of mulch and edging. Our mulch is produced on-site at our Effingham location on Route 32/33 just north of town. Mulch is also on display at our Mattoon store on Logan Street. Colors include Black, Brown, Red and the increasingly popular Espresso.
If you are looking for maintenance-free color in your flower bed, we provide several options of ornamental rock from the classic River Rock that never goes out of style, to Trap rock (a dark purple), Merrimac (brown) and Wisconsin Red.
The final touch to a foundation bed in the front of your home comes from the edging. A vast array of brick edging often complements the brick face of a home. Some prefer a more natural look to a rural or lake home, and we also have that covered. We offer natural Field Stone and manufactured stone that provides a cohesive and natural effect to your edging.
Other popular projects that our crews specialize in include the construction of stone patios, steps and retaining walls. Check out the pictures section because they speak for themselves. Retaining walls and patios have progressed to what I can only describe as yard art. After I measure out a project and draw out a design, I give the guys a few pallets of stone and they build monuments. Simply amazing.
As the landscape of landscaping literally changes over the years, Maxedon Landscaping continues to be proud to serve Effingham, Mattoon and the surrounding areas. The effect of removing those overgrown yew bushes and replacing them with an updated landscape can create an immediate improvement for your home.
Although I have worked in landscaping for years, I continue to be impressed after joining the Maxedon Landscaping team in 2015. After nearly a half century in business, the specialty products and talented installers with decades of experience is second to none. Let us share this experience and innovation with you. Please call me at 217-821-6209 or 217-868-9233, and keep checking us out on Facebook and at our website, Maxedons.com for future updates and photos.
See you outside,
